Make an Impact in the Slums of Nairobi

Imagine the overwhelming challenges faced by millions in Nairobi’s slums, like Kayaba. These communities are marked by overcrowding, lack of basic services, and limited opportunities for a better life. In these harsh conditions, hope can seem out of reach. But through your generosity, we can bring lasting change.
We are currently supporting two vital projects that are making a significant difference for young people:
-
Mukuru Starlight Learners Center: Once a small daycare, this school now serves as a beacon of hope in the Kayaba slum, providing education from nursery school through primary levels. Despite ranking among the best in national exams, the school faces limitations in resources. The headmistress, Jacintha Ngugi, shared, “We could help more children and improve our test scores if we simply had enough desks and school supplies.”
-
The Youth Apostolate: This initiative reaches out to teenage boys who migrate to Nairobi in search of work—work that is hard to find. These young men are vulnerable to the pressures of city life, often falling into substance abuse and despair. Thanks to your support, the Missionaries of Africa in Kenya provide them with counseling, guidance, and help returning home when possible.
Education is truly transformative. It empowers young people to find new opportunities and shape a better future for themselves and their communities. Your support is not just a donation—it’s an investment in their future, providing them with the resources and guidance they need to succeed.
Your generosity will help sustain these two critical projects and expand our efforts to bring hope and opportunity to children and teens in Nairobi, empowering them to change their lives and communities.
The first time a westerner sees the Kibera slum, the stark contrast between Nairobi’s thriving cityscape and the surrounding slums is almost unbelievable. This reality highlights the urgent need for support. Your contribution today will provide education and opportunity to those who need it most, helping bring lasting change to the lives of young people in these communities.
