Father Barthélémy Bazemo, M.Afr, Appointed Provincial of the Americas

Washington, D.C., USA – July 1, 2024 – We are delighted to announce that Father Barthélémy Bazemo, M.Afr, originally from Burkina Faso, has been appointed as the new Provincial of the Americas for the Missionaries of Africa, effective July 1, 2024. Father Bazemo succeeds Father Réal Doucet, M.Afr, of Canada, who has completed his six-year term.

Father Bazemo will continue to reside in Washington, DC, and concurrently serve as President of the U.S. non-profit incorporation, Society of Missionaries of Africa, Inc.

The Province of the Americas encompasses the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where the Missionaries of Africa are dedicated to serving through pastoral care, education, and social services.
Father Réal Doucet, M.Afr, expressed his confidence in Father Bazemo, highlighting his leadership qualities: “Father Barthélémy’s dynamic approach and multicultural experience will undoubtedly invigorate our communities and advance our mission projects.”

Father Bazemo’s long-standing commitment and leadership within the Missionaries of Africa promise continued growth and innovation for the Province of the Americas.
